Period Vs Ovulation

Feeling differences in how you feel throughout your menstrual cycle is SUPER normal and to be expected, as our hormones change and fluctuate, so does our mood, our energy, our sleep, our motivation, our libido - everything! We are cyclical beings and fluctuations throughout our cycles in all of the above is normal.

From our period until ovulation is when oestrogen is the star of the show. This is our follicular phase of the cycle. Oestrogen is the hormone that thickens up the lining of the uterus after it has shed during the period. Rising oestrogen creates abundant cervical fluid and gets us feeling nice and juicy leading into ovulation. Oestrogen opens the gates to our fertility! ⠀
⠀
Oestrogen lifts the uterus into a good position, opens the cervix, creates optimal cervical fluid, plumps up our lips, makes us smell good, and according to the research, we walk differently, we are more flirtatious, our libido rises, we hold ourselves differently and are perceived as more attractive to others during this ovulatory time when oestrogen is pumping! ⠀
⠀
But because we are cyclical, we aren't in this phase forever. We flow on into the next phase of the cycle as oestrogen lowers and we turn more inwards feeling the calming surge of progesterone after ovulation.⠀
⠀
It is normal for your mood and your energy to ebb and flow, that is the beauty of not being linear, although our modern world is, we aren't. We don't have to feel the same exact way everyday. Embrace the cyclicity that is your inherent make up! Don't resist it, work with it.
⠀
How do you feel during your period and ovulation?⠀
Do you notice any difference throughout your cycle?
