OVULATION ISN’T JUST ABOUT FERTILITY

 Yes, when we’re talking about ovulation and fertility, it’s 100% impossible to get pregnant naturally without ovulating first. BUT, ovulation is SO important for so many different pieces of our health including our sleep, mood, and energy levels.


When we ovulate, we produce the calming, chill hormone progesterone which balances out estrogen (which can be a little anxiety-inducing for some women). Ovulating regularly is usually a good sign our hormones are in balance. ⁣

And no, you’re not ovulating when you’re on hormonal birth control. In fact, hormonal birth control replaces the production of your natural sex hormones and shuts down ovulation. This means you’re reaping none of the delicious benefits of natural ovulation. ⁣

The thing about ovulation is that it’s TRICKY and elusive. Wouldn’t it be nice if we all just got a notification from our phones every month that said “Congrats girl— you just ovulated.” Mother Nature and Apple need to whip up a new app, am I right?! ⁣

The best way to confirm ovulation is tracking your temperature with a BBT thermometer. A good sign you’re ovulating monthly is if you have a very regular period when not on birth control. ⁣
