Lavender Essential Oil Use and Benefits


Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)is from France; Sweet, floral and crisp, Lavender Essential Oil is well regarded for its ability to soothe the soul and calm the nerves. A main ingredient in many perfumes and potpourri blends, this aromatic oil helps to relieve stress and high blood pressure, and can also ease tired muscles, calm tension headaches and even assist with urgent skincare needs like bee stings, small cuts and minor burns. Many around the world even swear by its abilities in combating acne, increasing cognitive function and aiding in a proper hair care routine. 


Blending well with many other essential oils such as cedarwood, pine and nutmeg, Lavender Essential Oil is a refreshing additive for most applications. Use a few drops to allow its distinct scent to refresh a room or rub it directly onto wood to deter moths, this is one oil that as handy as it is healthful. 
Lavender essential oil is one among the essential oils recommended for internal use. It appears to be Colorless with a strong floral aroma. Although lavender essential oil is non-toxic and non-sensitizing and is one of the few oils that can be used “neat” on the skin, it may cause an allergic reaction in people with sensitive skin unless diluted. Avoid during pregnancy and while nursing. Do not use on young children. The US National Institutes of Health (NIH) cautions that the use of lavender oil may increase the effects of barbiturates and benzodiazepines
