Recipes For Magnesium-Packed Keto Smoothie


While the ketogenic diet hasn’t been studied extensively for its role in potentially reducing anxiety, a few relevant studies have shown promise in this area.


A research study published in 2016 found that inducing ketosis by giving rats exogenous ketone supplements “reduced anxiety-related behavior.” Another animal-based study found that feeding pregnant mice a ketogenic diet resulted in lowered risks for depressive and anxious behavior in the offspring of those mice.

This smoothie recipe can be used as part of a ketogenic diet. It’s also loaded with magnesium, a known anxiety reducer.
 Keto Smoothie Recipe with Avocado, Chia Seeds and Cacao

INGREDIENTS:
1–1¼ cups full-fat coconut milk
½ frozen avocado
1 tablespoon nut butter of choice
1 tablespoon chia seeds, soaked in 3 tablespoons of water for 10 minutes
2 teaspoons cacao nibs, cacao powder or cocoa powder OR 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder made from bone broth
1 tablespoon coconut oil
ice (optional*)
for topping: cacao nibs and cinnamon
¼ cup water, if needed
DIRECTIONS:
Add contents into a high-powered blender, blending until well-combined.
Top with cacao nibs and cinnamon.
